What is Twitch?
Twitch, also known as 推特 or 图奇 in Chinese, is a live streaming platform primarily focused on video game content. It's one of the world's largest gaming live streaming platforms, and recently, streamers showcasing beauty and talent have also gained popularity here.
Advantages of Twitch
- Less strict environment compared to YouTube — For example, background music with copyrighted content doesn't result in stream interruptions. Even when background audio warnings appear, no notifications are received.
- Ability to stream movies — While this is possible, it's risky and can lead to account suspension. It's advisable to use official streaming services for movies.
- Language flexibility — There's no language barrier, and Chinese-speaking users are abundant. In the past three months, Twitch has seen 1.1 billion visits.
Monetizing on Twitch
Monetization on Twitch primarily comes from subscriptions and Bits (similar to virtual gifts). For Amazon's Affiliate Program, it's more suitable for English-speaking regions. Accumulating followers can lead to good income in the long term. Twitch also offers ads, but to participate, you need to join the Partner Program, which isn't covered in this article.
How to Stream on Twitch
Streaming on Twitch is straightforward without complex verification processes. Simply register at https://dashboard.twitch.tv/, log in, and start streaming. It's that simple!
Just kidding!
If you're using OBS, it's easy. OBS supports binding your Twitch account, allowing you to stream locally. To obtain your stream key, go to your dashboard → Settings → Stream. The specific URL is: https://dashboard.twitch.tv/u/your_username/settings/stream
However, I don't use OBS; I use FFmpeg, which requires a streaming address, specifically an RTMP address. I couldn't find this on Twitch!
Twitch Streaming Address
After some English searches, I found this address: https://stream.twitch.tv/ingests/. Any of these servers can be used. Replace {stream_key} with your stream key to use directly.
For VPS-based 24/7 streaming, refer to this article: https://iweec.com/683.html
